Trenton Special School District has implemented a Response to Intervention program across all grade levels. The utilization of a RTI program allows us to identify students with deficits in reading and math skills and provide them with appropriate interventions to address those deficits.
Students in Kindergarten through the eighth grade are universally screened three times each school year. These screenings occur in August, December, and May. Students who qualify for interventions are then progress monitored every two weeks to detemine the effectiveness of their intervention and to identify the need for any changes. A variety of research based programs and strategies are available to address individual student needs.
Students in high school school are identified for intervention based on data from middle school screenings and current classroom performance. Interventions are provided and progress monitoring dictates the need for any changes.
